The default Windows 2000/XP shell font (for Windows Explorer) is Tahoma, and the default system font (for System Properties, Device Manager, etc.) is MS Sans Serif. Back -up your Registry first, the only way to change them is to alter the Registry. But Paul says this definitely was a Windows XP font. The chatroom found this link to a Microsoft page where Paul could download a Windows XP font pack. He can also look in the document itself and see what font it is that he used. He should open it in a text-only program like Notepad, and there will be a formatting command that will say the name. A contemporary sans serif design, Arial contains more humanist characteristics than many of its predecessors and as such is more in tune with the mood of the last decades of the twentieth century. The overall treatment of curves is softer and fuller than in most industrial style sans serif faces. Terminal strokes are cut on the diagonal which helps to give the face a less mechanical appearance. Arial is an extremely versatile family of typefaces which can be used with equal success for text setting in reports, presentations, magazines etc, and for display use in newspapers, advertising and promotions.
